Starting Over with my Web Traffic
This just might knock your socks off…
Or if by chance you already know it, then you should be out there doing and not just reading about it!
Actually while we’re on it, an old buddy of mine introduced me to the learning and applying ratio.
In the beginning we spend most of our time
learning a new skill. We do very little applying what we learn.
So for every 10 hours spent learning, we might only
spend an hour or so taking any type of action.
As time goes by we’ve learned all kinds of things, so it only
makes sense that we should spend more time DOING.
The BIG Problem is, especially online, information is addictive
and most people continue on their merry way.
Learning, learning, learning and maybe a little action here and
there but then back to learning again.
If we start to spin that ratio around and spend at least 50% of our time DOING, taking action and eventually build it up closer towards 90%.
Otherwise we end up like the grocery store owner who
spends his days reading and learning all about groceries
but never gets around to opening up his shop.
No wonder he’s still broke!
Back to traffic….
There’s only two real sources of web traffic online:
* Free traffic
* Paid traffic
Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
However BOTH types of traffic will cost you.
One costs you money, while the other costs you
valuable time. Now here’s the stupid part.
I made this mistake, multiple times. Even though I hate to
admit it, I still do.
And All The Big Internet Marketing Guru’s KNOW This
So Here’s the deal… They know that newbies hate spending money on traffic. They’re just flat out scared of using paid traffic.
The guru’s know you would spend $97 on a marketing course
learning how to get FREE traffic rather than go out and
spend $97 buying paid traffic.
Can You See the Irony Here?
When I realized I kept doing this, It started driving me nuts.
I realized how stupid I’d been.
Over the years I could have invested thousands into
paid traffic, built 5 figure lists from buying targeted traffic
and definitely moved forward a whole lot faster…
Instead I was buying ebooks and course after course,
spending money on coaching and god knows what else.
BTW Information really is addicting, I started buying
resell rights to mail order reports back in the 80’s and
I still have never stopped. If it sounds interesting and
comes with resell rights I’ve already bought it…
(been there, done that, and even worn that shirt out)
Now Please don’t get me wrong, I’m all for free traffic.
Article syndication is great, blogging and building a community
is fantastic. They’re all part of the big jig-saw puzzle, BUT.
And This is a BIG BUT…
These Traffic methods take time to grow and leverage.
Paid traffic is instant. It’s on tap. You can open up the
traffic faucet full blast!
So it only Makes sense to throw some paid traffic at your
sites first, get results and then over time you can build
up the slower, organic traffic methods.
It’s a painful mistake I know, if I were to go back
in time, it’s the one thing I’d do different.
Sleep on it, think about it and let that really sink in…
You can keep spending hours online in forums, making videos,
writing affiliate reviews, clicking links all day in traffic exchanges,
building webpages, writing articles etc…
